Endoscopic Brow Lift Procedure
The browlift procedure typically takes between one and two hours and is performed under general anesthesia. For most patients, a minimally invasive endoscopic approach is used. Your NJ ENT surgeon will make five small hidden incisions behind the hairline. The skin will then be lifted, and the underlying muscles and tissue will be repositioned to achieve the desired lift. Any excess skin or fat may also be removed. Occasionally, an endoscopic forehead lift is not appropriate, such as for those individuals who have tall foreheads. In these instances an endoscopic browlift will only create a taller forehead with a hairline that appears more receded. In this situation, s an “open brow lift” is performed. The incision for this type of browlift is still hidden within the hairline. However, in this type of forehead lift, there is a resection of skin. Patients will be monitored in the recovery room for a few hours before being released to go home. The surgeon will provide detailed post-operative instructions, including how to care for the incisions and when to schedule follow-up appointments.
Browlift Recovery
The recovery time for browlifts varies depending on the type of procedure and the patient’s individual healing process. Generally, patients can expect to experience some swelling, bruising, and discomfort for the first week after surgery. The sutures are removed typically between days 7-10. Patients should avoid strenuous activities for at least 2-3 weeks after the procedure. Patients should also avoid exposing their incisions to direct sunlight for at least six months to minimize scarring.
Alternative Treatment
Computer imaging will be used at your consultation in order to determine if a browlift is the right procedure for you. Not everyone is an ideal candidate for a brow lift. In some patients, it is more appropriate to treat this area with injectables such as Botox.
